As the third largest publishing house in Finland, finding an ideal location for their headquarters was an important and delicate task. The chosen building was originally built for Helsinki Telephone Company's Headquarters in the 1960s. Tammi Publishers wished to fit all functions under the same roof, including its bookshop and a cafeteria. Redirecting the sunlight inside the building was essential. Many original elements, such as rooftop windows, were repaired and reused whenever possible. Oak was utilized as a new raw material throughout the premises. Design evolved into a restoration of 1960 architecture as well as the tailor-made interior creations for the publishing company's needs. A great portion of furniture, including office tables and bookshop fittings, were designed by AUD Architects.
