Design Greatest Hits

You Are Here, Summer 2017, pages 22-23

Finnish design built the post-war image of Finland that we know today. As its very core reside glass and ceramic works of art created by celebrated designers.

Design collector and dealer Juhani Lemmetti chose, for the readers of You Are Here, 10 important pieces from is collection that brought Finnish design to the international forefront.

Since the 1980s Juhani Lemmetti has been following his passion for Finnish design. Sharing his expertise, he has been able to build both private collections and supply museums home and abroad. Beside this, in 1995, Juhani founded Aero Design Furniture, taking on the rights for the manufacture of furniture by the renowned Finnish interior architect Ilmari Tapiovaara.

This legacy was continued by Artek in 2010. Lemmetti has since developed Artek's 2nd Cycle, the iconic furniture company's wing of sustainable design and a second life for Alvar Aalto's furniture and other vintage design.

Lemmetti's new exciting space opened last month. It is a platform for both contemporary and historical Finnish design.

Gallery Lemmetti on Yrjönkatu 8 is open by appointment only, but you can get a fantastic view of the wonders of Finnish design through the windows.
